Memory Sketchin'

One of the drawing exercises stressed by Stephen Silver in his character design course was doing memory sketches: taking a mental note of someone you see in life and trying to capture them on paper. I saw this old man sitting by himself at the mall.

  1. Hey man. I really appreciate you swingin' by the ol' blog. I've got you in my links now which means you're part of my daily blog commute. Keep these comin' dude.

Is this how clean and tight you draw the first time around? Or is there an under drawing? If this is your first whack at this drawing, I'm blown away. If not, I'm still blown away

  2. Thanks, I appreciate it!

The first drawing looked like a bunch of scribbles, I usually do a few passes to flesh things out.

  3. I LOVE STEPHEN SILVER. I want to take his course.

Sweet drawing. I love seeing people who you instantly want to draw. This guy makes me feel sad though for some reason...

  4. Hey Justin!

Thanks for stopping by the blog and thanks for the positive feedback!

Man, you think I've come along way! your style has evolved so much man, you've got some sick artwork up! Nicely done man!

That's cool your taking the Stephen Silver's Schoolism course. I have a few friends who have taken it and are taking it now and the work that people produce after taking it is just amazing!

Great to see your doing well, keep in touch!
